China Cup was a week long event in Shenzhen, China. I was hired as the only video editor and as always with the World Match Racing Tour it was all about pushing quality content at a very high rate. Each day would start with a “dock walk” with interviews of the sailors, that was edited as fast as possible to be able to upload it to Facebook before the sailing started. A challenge but we managed to get it out every morning. Great teamwork.
During the day the camera crew shot the sailing from the water and with a drone. Now and then they come in to the editing room and drop of their footage. Then it was up to me to cut between gopro, on-water, and drone footage to make race edits. As many as possible.
When the sailing was done for the day I cut together a “Daily Highlights” video where we summarised the day with interviews, b-roll and footage from the day.
It’s always great fun working with the WMRT. Tough days, but incredibly rewarding.
